When I was very young and I started taking an interest in politics , I believed for many years that all I had to do was expose the corrupt actions of our worthless politicians and the public would throw them out.

After dealing with thousands of people i'm forced to face the reality that our politicians are just a reflection of our society. ...and the richer they are, the more out of touch with reality they are.

I worked in service for HVAC companies for 5 or 6 years before I found out customers call the company and complain about the technician, many times for nothing. My employer has been in the business for 40 years and we have customers that say "don't send that guy back to my house", he doesn't tell people he owns the company because he knows everyone is nuts.

The scary part is, companies like SEARS collect the information, if the manager wants to get rid of the technician they collect the complaints, if a manager wants to keep the technician, they ignore the complaints.

Let me tell you, what people think is a "reputable" company is all in their imagination, and good companies play to it. Most jobs go smooth, some hit problems, that's just the way it is.

You would be surprised about how many people are home all day and don't work, they're either retired or they have enough money where they don't have to do anything.

These people don't do anything, they don't have a care in the world, then when someone who works for a living comes over, they call the company and complain. If you think about it that's cutthroat.

Back when I worked at SEARS, I already knew the manager was trying to get me fired, ...they sent me to a customer's house and I found the guy damaged his own furnace. He was a long time SEARS customer, but at this point SEARS wasn't liable. I decided to be a nice guy and let SEARS pay for the part and labor. Well, I got back from the manufacturer, they said "we don't have a replacement, you have to replace the whole furnace" (Which is the only time that's ever happened to me) . They gave us another furnace and we installed it. The customer got a brand new furnace FOR FREE.

The customer misread our receipt and convinced himself we put in some cheap furnace as a replacement, he started raising hell, calling the company every 2 days, complaining about me, threatening to go to BBB, blah blah blah.  What a jackass.

No good deed goes unpunished.

The end result is, successful companies raise prices and assume every customer is going to be a bastard. They think of their customer as an enemy and go in with the intention of collecting top dollar.

Unfortunately , businesses are hand-in-hand with politicians.

Bastards that rise to the top from the other bastards

I had carpet cleaning jobs like that, before I tried to start up a carpet cleaning business for awhile...(Couldn't compete with all the scams they run out there to get their feet in the door...Didn't understand the scam game and tried to be too honest with people)...So I sold the machine and van...

I love watching shows like Dirty Jobs, and people working and building things, but to be honest, I've gotten spoiled in having my own source of income over the computer, where I don't have any employees and don't have to answer to any bosses, and can give myself a raise any time I feel like it....I really don't think I could go back to doing service type jobs, dealing with customers etc....I dread the thought, even sometimes have nightmares about it, although I'd do it if I had to..and I deeply respect people who do this stuff and put up with it all.

Since first reading wolf's posts the complaint has always been the same. He's a victim, people are mean and unfair, he gets picked on....

It is always everyone else's fault...

When it is always everyone else's fault, you begin to wonder who is the real problem.

I've dealt with customers for over forty years. I've had these experiences, but they've been rare. Usually, they've occurred because no one took the time to set the proper expectations. So the customer thought one thing would happen, and the company did something else. -------------- Sometimes, though, it has been like wolfstrike describes: Random and out of the blue.

I'm a Maintenance Engineer. I can't fix stupid but I can fix what stupid does.

(I'm a retired maintenance engineer who worked at a hotel. Most guests were very pleasant but some could be down right nasty.)

One of the biggest complaints we received was the A/C unit was turning on and off and I had to explain that they were controlled by a thermostat.

Nah, unlike you I'm not a whiny bitch and sociopath that gets aroused by mass murder and genocide.

BTW...Isn't El Alumno a vending machine type that vends ammo in the video game "Bioshock"?

Pretty much true though.  not2serious has told me that illegal aliens (mexican nationals) running away from you should be shot in the back as they are escaping.

What would you call that?

He has also called for mass executions and hangings of illegal immigrants, including their children.

Yeah, Muna really got on his case about that stuff.....

I'm not that extreme. I just think that the policies we have now are good if they are simply enforced...Such as, if police book an illegal for a crime, they should notify ICE and have the person deported....rather than clogging up our own prison system which is already over populated....That sounds reasonable to me..

At the border, however...I don't think the best way of dealing with people trying to cross over is to shoot them, at least, not right away....I would think a warning shot first to notify them would be appropriate..Then if they persisted, stronger deterrence could be employed...
